FRESH WORK by Urban Roots Photography

A family that plays together, stays together! Urban Roots Photography had a great time photographing these awesome siblings. All of the siblings played one or more sports at Viewmont High School.  Way to go!

Halloween is a favorite holiday of Urban Roots Photography. We love everything about it. We love the colors, leaves, candy, costumes, temperatures and trick-or-treating!  We had mini sessions today and this is one of the cute kiddos we photographed. This is his first Halloween.

Here is a little sneak peak …..

You know that feeling you get when your hair, makeup and wardrobe all come together?  It makes you feel so fabulous and confident that you can’t help but smile.  Urban Roots Photography had a great time while capturing the beauty and confidence of this client.  She made our job easy!

A couple of months ago when the mother of this darling little girl first spoke to me about doing a princess session with her daughter and her husband, we were so excited! Plans were made and the dresses finally arrived. The day had come. Urban Roots Photography was finally able to put the plan in motion and capture the sweet and tender moments between a father and his little princess!  The autumn weather was warm and perfect, just right for session. We hope these photographs will be treasured for years to come. But most of all, we wish this little princes a very Happy Birthday!

It was a perfect fall day when Urban Roots Photography photographed this family. How fortunate we are to be able to spend time outdoors with people/friends we have met and gotten to know through our business. We have enjoyed taking photos of this family for a number of years. It has been great fun watching the kids grow (and get their driver’s license)!

Salt Lake City Wedding photographer

This was a beautiful day, both weather and occasion. Such a happy day for bride and groom and family. Urban Roots Photography had an enjoyable day shooting this wedding at the Salt Lake City Temple.

This little beauty came to Urban Roots Photography 11 days new for her newborn session.  Both she and her mother were real champions. She really loved to cuddle with her mother.  It is always such an honor to witness the beautiful bond between mother and baby. How many of you out there have heard the music of Foreign Figures?  They are a group from Utah.  Awesome alt-pop music which fuses Hip-Hop, Rock with R&B influences.  We love the photo that Urban Roots Photography captured of Jonny Tanner playing the guitar.  Steve Michels was on drums and his brother Eric Michels was on the keyboard and was the vocalist. But let’s not forget Seth Dunshee on the bass guitar.

Last weekend Dave and I went to the Balloon Festival in Sandy, Utah. While the balloons failed to take flight due to the high winds,we were not disappointed by the two fabulous groups that were there. Glad we took our camera with us!  We at Urban Roots Photography seldom travel without our cameras. We took a few photos of Jacob Lee performing. This was actually Jacob’s first time in the United States! He is from Australia. We loved his music!  If you get a chance, check him out. We may post a short video clip of his performance on Instagram.

What a patient good little guy (and good looking) this boy was. The cute blue owl hat was a gift from his mom’s friend from Brazil.
This little guy is so cute. We have been lucky to photograph his newborn, 6 month and now 1 year milestones. Have a great birthday!
We had a chance to work with this model using a new style of lighting in studio.  You can see how soft and beautiful her skin is with this type of lighting.

Happy 1st birthday!   What a great baby to photograph for his first birthday and cake smash!
Congratulations to Dallin for earning his eagle. Way to go.
This lovely couple was very patient while we worked our majic while testing a new lens with a major lens manufacturer. We’re crushing on the black and white photographs. They are so Yervant-esque.
Don’t you just love Valentine’s day???? What does Valentine’s day mean to you? So, we know how Valentine’s day came to be seen as the most romantic day of the year. Wouldn’t it be a nice surprise to give someone you care about the gift of a Valentine photograph? This gorgeous girl totally rocked her session. We at Urban Roots Photography think these beautiful Valentine portraits will be a great surprise.
We are loving winter sessions in the studio. We loved our client’s makeup and wardrobe. She really rocked the shoot.
This awesome dude was awarded his Eagle Scout at age 13 1/2 years old! Way to go, conratulations. We are very proud of you.
Despite the fridged temperature, she was such a trooper for the photo session.
How about those ties on these 2 month old twin brothers! So awesome, the matching shirts and ties with their daddy.
Love the studio session with this awesome young lady. Our clients are growing up too quickly. Seems like just yesterday we did some photos when she was in highschool.
Love this cute little family. Had a great time shooting family photos for Christmas.
We can’t get enough of this adorable little family! They are so sweet and mellow. We love the wardrobe choices they selected for their family session. Great job!

I am trying out a some new editing techniques that I created. Love? Or not so much?

We at Urban Roots Photography just love autumn. It’s our favorite time of the year. We had the opportunity to photograph this cute little family. The day was perfect and the colors were spectacular.
This little guy celebrated his 6 month mile stone (and a dash of Halloween) Can’t wait for his 1st birthday session….what a cute little guy.
Congratulations to the newlyweds! They finally sealed the deal!

This wedding was amazing and had so many fun details. The bride was beautiful and her gown was gorgeous. The groom looked sharp in his suit. Loved his shoes. This was such a great venue with live plants which reminded me of the outdoors. There were many fun surprises from the wedding party as well as the bride and groom. Both of them had some tricks up their sleeves. There was much fun, laughter and love throughout the day/evening. Urban Roots Photography was honored to share and document their special day.

It is so refreshing when we as photographers see that our clients love and cherish their engagement and formal photos. I think this couple displayed nearly every photo we look of them at their reception!

There are so many great moments we captured on their wedding day. It was so difficult just to choose a few to post.
This was the cutest one year old ever! What a doll. She was such a dainty little lady during her cake smash session. Tons of adorable pics, So difficult to choose just a few.

This was so much fun! Thank you for the amazing opportunity!
The long awaited formals are here, but wait, there are more….stay tuned.

Sneak peak of this adorable newborn, more to come from Urban Roots Photography, Photographers based in Davis County.

This was such a beautiful and fun wedding! Dave and I feel so blessed that we were able to witness the beginning of this couple’s new life together. The bride selected Tiffany blue and gold for her wedding colors. Her theme was whimsical and woodsy. Her colors and theme blended beautifully together. I love the bride’s attention to details. The venue, decor, DJ, caterer and music were amazing! The cake was awesome too. I especially loved the cake topper. The wedding party and guests had a great time dancing and enjoying each others company. The night ended with one of our favorites……a bubble send off.

Congratulations to the lovely couple! Wishing them a lifetime of love and happiness!
This was quite an adventure for this shoot. Required a little 4 x 4 with our truck, but we all had fun in the end. Stay tuned for the upcoming bridals for this lovely couple in a couple of weeks.

We especially had fun shooting this bridal session. The bride was so awesome to work with. Dave kept telling her that she looked like Cinderella. The bride’s wedding theme was whimsical and forest-y. We try to incorporate some magic with every shoot. This one we were able to literally create that magical look of the bride going through a secret door to the wonderland on the other side.
We were so fortunate to spend time with this awesome couple. The lovely bride to be flew from Brazil to Utah for her engagement pictures. Excited to do her bridals when she returns to Utah.
It was such an honor to photograph this couple’s wedding ceremony in Saint Ann’s Cathedral. It was very apparent that this couple is deeply in love and has great respect for one another. Congratulations on your new life together.

The crazy rain, wind and chilly temperatures couldn’t put a damper on this happy couple’s special day. A masquerade was such a fun theme for the reception.

Had a blast with this awesome couple shooting their engagement photos. These two are meant for one another.

This is just a sneak peek of this bridal session. Can hardly wait for the wedding.
