FRESH WORK by Urban Roots Photography

Urban Roots Photography was excited to do this adorable little man’s sitter session. The crazy snow storm that day didn’t put a damper on things.

This little guy has the most beautiful, perfect skin and gorgeous blue eyes! He is a little charmer and has the sweetest personality.

His mama did a great job on his wardrobe! And Dad was a big help!

Dave and Teresa at Urban Roots Photography want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a hope you have a wonderful new year.

We also wanted to let you know what is new with us on the home front and why our blog has been so quiet. We sold our house in Centerville, Utah and have moved. Wow! Moving is such a huge project! We are still in Davis county so as far as our business goes there is really no change there.

To ring in the new year and to celebrate our move and new beginnings, we are offering a 20% discount for anyone who books an engagement or bridal/formal session between January 1, 2019 thru April 1, 2019. This offer just needs to be booked between those dates, the session does not necessarily need to be done between those dates. All bookings require a deposit.

Looking forward to 2019! New and great things are on the horizon.

This lovely couple asked us to take their  formal bride and groom photos at this cool mountain location. It had a pond, swans and even a canoe. Cant wait to take their wedding photos.

What a little beauty…..7 days new! Urban Roots Photography did this babe in her home.  She was so good for us.

We at Urban Roots Photography love it when we have the opportunity to photograph a brave and adventurous bride. That day the sun was hot! The bugs (both the flying type and ones with several legs) were out in force! Eeeek! Yet this beautiful bride did not complain once. She was quite the trooper! But the adventure did not end there. She climbed many rocks in her gorgeous dress and handled it like a pro. I am not going to lie, when she stood on the very highest peak my stomach did a few flip flops. The lighting was diverse and beautiful and can be seen in the photos. These are just a handful of photos from her session. So many to choose from!! We are looking forward to photographing her wedding in September!

We at Urban Roots Photography get so excited when we book a session for eight year olds. It’s one of the milestones in there youth. We took some fun pictures, but his favorite was when he was catching air.

We had an awesome experience shooting this former USA grappling team member. He was one of only 20 people that made the team representing the USA. He traveled to The World Grappling Championship competition in Baku, Azerbaijan.

We at Urban Roots photography just love these guys! They are so fun and have the cutest personalities! We are looking forward to photographing her bridals and their wedding day as well! We love how they are so adaptable. On the day we were schedule to do their engagement session the wind was blowing like crazy. We went to the original location and the wind was even worse with no signs of it stopping any time soon. We had to quickly come up with a Plan B. It was a challenge to come up with a suitable location when the wind was howling throughout most of the state. I finally had the idea to go to this alternate location which was a considerable distance from the original. Needless to say by the time we arrived at the second location the wind was still blowing but we were able to find some shelter between the structures. We were losing daylight fast…..so Dave and I kicked it in to warp speed and shot this entire session in 35 minutes which included one wardrobe change.  Thanks Katie and Nick for being so awesome!!!

We had a blast photographing this couple’s wedding! All day long there was joy, fun, love and laughter. The bride’s dress was beautiful! The groom looked pretty handsome too. It is always so touching to witness and photograph the father and daughter’s dance. It bought a tear to my eye. We loved their cake. The bride’s grandmother decorated it. Urban Roots Photography wishes this cute couple a lifetime of love and happiness.

Urban Roots Photography just loved shooting this little guy! He was so good the entire session! It was easy to pose him. When we were first contacted, the client asked us if we could photograph her baby in specific outfits. During our discussion we discovered that the soon to be new mama loved bears, specifically Panda bears and teddy bears as well . She also loves her 3 dogs. She requested for the newborn session that her son be photographed in a Panda outfit, a teddy bear outfit and a little dog outfit which included a bone. The mama provided all of the outfits which I believe were gifts from her baby shower. We were impressed with the size of the Panda bear and it was fun to incorporate it into many setups and shots. Urban Roots Photography hopes these images will bring a smile to the new parents face each time they look at them.

Urban Roots Photography loves maternity sessions! We photographed this beautiful mom in an orchard in Utah County. The little dude is about to be out numbered when his new sister arrives (2 sisters).

We had a chance to photograph the heavy weight grappling meet.  This gentlemen placed 4th in the Olympic grappling.  These were some big boys! Quite interesting the strong friendship among the contestants.  After a match the shook hands and took a seat side by side and discussed the match.  Quite awesome to shoot.  The meet was in Davis County. Urban Roots Photography had a blast to be able to shoot this meet.

Congratulations on your academic achievements!  Best  wishes from Urban Roots Photography.

Congratulations graduating class of 2018 Norhtern Utah Academy for Math, Engineering and Science.  Good luck from Urban Roots Photography.

There is a cherry blossom season in Utah.  This year our faithful clients wanted family pictures in the cherry blossoms.  Such cute kids. We love this family!

Urban Roots Photography had the pleasure of photographing this young lady who just turned twelve.  She looked great in all of her outfits and her mother did an amazing job on her various hair styles.

This perfect little angel came to visit us at Urban Roots Photography when she was just 5 days new. She was so good and didn’t cry once during the session.  Not only was she a good baby but she is happy as well.  Three times during her session she smiled.  The last time she smiled so big that I think it can be counted as a laugh! Her parents requested for her to be photographed on her father’s surfboard. Her grandmother got her the mermaid outfit that she was photographed in. And who can resist Christmas props when you are born in December?  This little princess and her parents were just a delight to work with….and so photogenic!

Here is a little sneak peak …..

You know that feeling you get when your hair, makeup and wardrobe all come together?  It makes you feel so fabulous and confident that you can’t help but smile.  Urban Roots Photography had a great time while capturing the beauty and confidence of this client.  She made our job easy!

A couple of months ago when the mother of this darling little girl first spoke to me about doing a princess session with her daughter and her husband, we were so excited! Plans were made and the dresses finally arrived. The day had come. Urban Roots Photography was finally able to put the plan in motion and capture the sweet and tender moments between a father and his little princess!  The autumn weather was warm and perfect, just right for session. We hope these photographs will be treasured for years to come. But most of all, we wish this little princes a very Happy Birthday!

It was a perfect fall day when Urban Roots Photography photographed this family. How fortunate we are to be able to spend time outdoors with people/friends we have met and gotten to know through our business. We have enjoyed taking photos of this family for a number of years. It has been great fun watching the kids grow (and get their driver’s license)!

Salt Lake City Wedding photographer

This was a beautiful day, both weather and occasion. Such a happy day for bride and groom and family. Urban Roots Photography had an enjoyable day shooting this wedding at the Salt Lake City Temple.

This little beauty came to Urban Roots Photography 11 days new for her newborn session.  Both she and her mother were real champions. She really loved to cuddle with her mother.  It is always such an honor to witness the beautiful bond between mother and baby. Last weekend Dave and I went to the Balloon Festival in Sandy, Utah. While the balloons failed to take flight due to the high winds,we were not disappointed by the two fabulous groups that were there. Glad we took our camera with us!  We at Urban Roots Photography seldom travel without our cameras. We took a few photos of Jacob Lee performing. This was actually Jacob’s first time in the United States! He is from Australia. We loved his music!  If you get a chance, check him out. We may post a short video clip of his performance on Instagram.

What a patient good little guy (and good looking) this boy was. The cute blue owl hat was a gift from his mom’s friend from Brazil.

We had a chance to work with this model using a new style of lighting in studio.  You can see how soft and beautiful her skin is with this type of lighting.

Happy 1st birthday!   What a great baby to photograph for his first birthday and cake smash!

This lovely couple was very patient while we worked our majic while testing a new lens with a major lens manufacturer. We’re crushing on the black and white photographs. They are so Yervant-esque.
Don’t you just love Valentine’s day???? What does Valentine’s day mean to you? So, we know how Valentine’s day came to be seen as the most romantic day of the year. Wouldn’t it be a nice surprise to give someone you care about the gift of a Valentine photograph? This gorgeous girl totally rocked her session. We at Urban Roots Photography think these beautiful Valentine portraits will be a great surprise.
We are loving winter sessions in the studio. We loved our client’s makeup and wardrobe. She really rocked the shoot.

Despite the fridged temperature, she was such a trooper for the photo session.

Love this cute little family. Had a great time shooting family photos for Christmas.
We can’t get enough of this adorable little family! They are so sweet and mellow. We love the wardrobe choices they selected for their family session. Great job!

I am trying out a some new editing techniques that I created. Love? Or not so much?

Congratulations to the newlyweds! They finally sealed the deal!

This wedding was amazing and had so many fun details. The bride was beautiful and her gown was gorgeous. The groom looked sharp in his suit. Loved his shoes. This was such a great venue with live plants which reminded me of the outdoors. There were many fun surprises from the wedding party as well as the bride and groom. Both of them had some tricks up their sleeves. There was much fun, laughter and love throughout the day/evening. Urban Roots Photography was honored to share and document their special day.

It is so refreshing when we as photographers see that our clients love and cherish their engagement and formal photos. I think this couple displayed nearly every photo we look of them at their reception!

There are so many great moments we captured on their wedding day. It was so difficult just to choose a few to post.
This was the cutest one year old ever! What a doll. She was such a dainty little lady during her cake smash session. Tons of adorable pics, So difficult to choose just a few.

This was so much fun! Thank you for the amazing opportunity!
The long awaited formals are here, but wait, there are more….stay tuned.

Sneak peak of this adorable newborn, more to come from Urban Roots Photography, Photographers based in Davis County.

This was such a beautiful and fun wedding! Dave and I feel so blessed that we were able to witness the beginning of this couple’s new life together. The bride selected Tiffany blue and gold for her wedding colors. Her theme was whimsical and woodsy. Her colors and theme blended beautifully together. I love the bride’s attention to details. The venue, decor, DJ, caterer and music were amazing! The cake was awesome too. I especially loved the cake topper. The wedding party and guests had a great time dancing and enjoying each others company. The night ended with one of our favorites……a bubble send off.

Congratulations to the lovely couple! Wishing them a lifetime of love and happiness!
This was quite an adventure for this shoot. Required a little 4 x 4 with our truck, but we all had fun in the end. Stay tuned for the upcoming bridals for this lovely couple in a couple of weeks.

We especially had fun shooting this bridal session. The bride was so awesome to work with. Dave kept telling her that she looked like Cinderella. The bride’s wedding theme was whimsical and forest-y. We try to incorporate some magic with every shoot. This one we were able to literally create that magical look of the bride going through a secret door to the wonderland on the other side.
We were so fortunate to spend time with this awesome couple. The lovely bride to be flew from Brazil to Utah for her engagement pictures. Excited to do her bridals when she returns to Utah.

Had a blast with this awesome couple shooting their engagement photos. These two are meant for one another.

We had so much fun doing some night shots with these these two love birds.
