We had the opportunity to photograph this awesome woman. She exemplifies every word that is listed in the title of this posting. She is beautiful and strong and such an inspiration. Her husband is an artist and the two of them decided to do a henna design on her head. The design is awesome and was created to look like hair. (I love the flowers in the design.) When the henna is initially applied, it goes on a dark black color. In four days we will do another session showing the lighter color the henna fades to.
MEET THE URBAN ROOTS PHOTOGRAPHY TEAM
WELCOME!
Dave and Teresa Mikkelsen are a husband and wife team. They both love working with people and doing portrait, newborn and wedding photography. They currently reside in Utah and feel extremely blessed to be full time photographers.
Dave grew up in the country and Teresa grew up in the city. This played a big role in the decision to name their photography business Urban Roots Photography. Urban = city + Roots = country.
Photography has changed the way Dave and Teresa view life by being around so many young couples getting married, new parents having babies, and young families growing up. It is refreshing and a constant reminder to them that family is everything! Each time they listen to an officiant perform a wedding ceremony they are reminded of how important family really is. They feel truly lucky to be a witness to the beginning of new families!
Dave has been photographing the world around him since the age of 14. His love for photography began at an early age. Dave studied photography at the University of Utah while pursuing his Bachelor's degree.
Teresa joined Dave in his photography business about 8 years ago bringing with her her creative style and eye for detail. Teresa loves photographing everything from newborns to brides, weddings to families and everything in between. She loves creating stylized shoots and has assisted families with decorating for weddings (that she was shooting) as well as filling the role of a wedding planner, on occasion.
Dave and Teresa are avid believers in the importance of capturing and documenting life's moments no matter how big or small. They learned an unfortunate lesson about the importance of wedding photos at their own wedding. They hired a well known photographer to photograph their wedding. The photographer did not show up to their ceremony but he did show up to their reception. You may think all was not lost, right? Well after the reception was over the photographer forgot to rewind the film prior to opening the back of the camera to remove the roll of film, thus exposing the majority of the frames! Sadly they only received about 8 photos from their entire wedding day!
Dave and Teresa would love to work with you and document your treasured moments in time. Please contact them if you are interested in booking a session with them.

I too was bald, three times in one year due to chemo for acute Leukemia. I donated my very long hair and then had my head shaved, all of which was very empowering but this so reads to the artist in me and I would have done this in a heart beat!
So inspiring you must share this with the oncology circles- magazines, hospitals, etc! Share the inspiration!
Thank you for this gift, you so have touched my heart!!!
